Recent Hilton Torrey Pines Review: "We loved the Hilton in La Jolla, and would highly recommend it to a couple wanting a nice place for a quiet getaway vacation. However, on our recent trip (first time in LaJolla/San diego area), we had to put up with the Mexican National Soccer Team and hundreds of fans taking over the hotel for several days. The Hilton staff did a fine job of monitoring  security, etc, but the regular visitors were extremely inconvenienced by not being able to use the lobby area during the stay of the Team. There was a constant crowded lobby area during which we could not comfortably be in the area to access the Internet, or just to simply relax and enjoy the hotel amenities. Literally hundreds of extra people simply loitered in the lobby area. We were told these people also had roms booked at the hotel, but we wonder if that was the case. We felt that we should have been either been forewarned of all the fans and media there, or should have been asked by management if there was anything they could do to make our stay comfortable with these crowds. Security did a fine job of monitoring the hallways, etc,, but for 3 evenings we could not attempt to find a spot to sit in the spacious lobby to enjoy the view, etc... At the very least, we should have been offered free Internet access in our rooms, or some other gesture to monitor our comfort level also. We definitely will stay there again, as it is a first-class hotel. But, we certainly will be asking if anything like this would be going on again during ur stay."

A short guide to La Jolla

Spanish for “The Jewel,” La Jolla is 13 miles north of downtown San Diego. One of the country’s most affluent communities, La Jolla is known for its fine homes, wonderful beaches, wonderful restaurants, and stunning natural scenery. It is home to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the Stephen Birch Aquarium and Museum.
